How We Speak……. (Part 3 of the Black Woman’s Voice trilogy)

How we speak….

We cannot speak the same language,

but we live the same language.

Living speaks and bears it within our tears as our hearts feel language.

With our mouths we speak the oppressor’s language

that we take and transform into a universal patois.

A universal knowing that we bear in our wombs

transforming it into liberation (the Sun)

and feed it to our children to birth a new ancient species of plants

that cannot be destroyed by old men’s ideas of a flat world that they dominate.

Our world is round made of stardust

where we all slip, slide, and dance without hierarchy

but instead construct using the twins, Function and Purpose.
